![]() ![]() I have thoroughly loved all of the books I've read in this series. Mark Boyett does an outstanding job of narration, as always. Most of the characters carry over into the next book and next trilogy, (unless they get killed - no spoilers!). Enter his new executive officer, Celeste Wright, is an ambitious young officer from a more prestigious fleet, and has taken the job with the 7th because of the upward mobility. The main characters are "real" people with flaws and sometimes they make mistakes, but they have good intentions. The Blue Jacket is part of Seventh Fleet, otherwise known as the Black Fleet, and is full of cast-offs and ruffians. Great character development, great characters, and plenty of war. ![]() But it does leave a thread on which the next trilogy can be built. ![]() The end of a trilogy ends the main story - not a cliff hanger. The Black Fleet books are really 3 separate trilogies that follow each other. Although it's not absolutely necessary, I strongly recommend you start with the Black Fleet Trilogy, (book 1 is called "Warship"), before listening to the 2nd or this 3rd trilogy, The Unification War Trilogy. This is book 1 of the third and final trilogy in the Black Fleet Series, an excellent series of military sci-fi space opera, (The first trilogy was The Black Fleet Trilogy, the second trilogy is called The Expansion Wars Trilogy, and this is the final trilogy - The Unification War Trilogy). Battleground is the first book in the final trilogy of the Black Fleet Saga. Excellent installment in the Blackfleet trilogy ![]()
